Washington - Statement from American Beverage on today's U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education Labor & Pensions Hearing.

“We agree too much sugar isn't good for anyone. And thanks to beverage industry innovation, consumers have more choices than ever to support their efforts in achieving balance and reducing sugar in their diets. We've transformed the beverage aisle to provide 400+ zero sugar options, offer a variety of portion sizes and voluntarily put clear calorie information on the front of every container. And these products are a priority in our marketing. It's working: today, 60% of beverages Americans buy are zero sugar.

Further, when it comes to kids, parents decide. This is why America's beverage companies have voluntarily committed to not advertise to children and, through our National School Beverage Guidelines, have voluntarily removed our full-calorie products from schools.

We look forward to working with the new administration and Congress to drive real solutions for a healthy America and thriving economy."
