American Beverage Statement on Shrinkflation

WASHINGTONThe following statement is from American Beverage President and CEO Kevin Keane:

“For many years now, America’s beverage companies have been offering consumers their favorite beverages in a variety of sizes and prices, and those choices have always clearly displayed total ounces and calories on every can, bottle and pack. We provide our consumers the choices they want and the information they need – and that hasn’t changed. 

“Smaller portion sizes are one of the ways we are supporting our consumers in their efforts to reduce calories and find balance, including the popular mini cans first introduced more than 10 years ago. This is not so-called shrinkflation. In fact, we have worked with leaders in public health on these efforts including The Clinton Foundation, the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Initiative. We remain committed to providing consumers with innovative choices, including portion sizes, that best meet their needs.”
