America’s beverage companies are committed to supporting families in their efforts to maintain balanced lifestyles. Parents want more beverage options with less sugar and smaller portions sizes. That’s why The Coca-Cola Company, Keurig Dr Pepper and PepsiCo are leading the largest voluntary effort by any industry to reduce sugar in the diet.
These companies are providing more choices with less sugar or zero sugar than ever before. In fact, 55% of beverages sold today contain zero sugar.
This bold effort, known as the Balance Calories Initiative, aims to reduce beverage calories per person nationally in the American diet by 20%. Through this commitment, beverage companies are combining their collective expertise in product innovation and marketing to help support families efforts to get to that right balance. This includes developing new and reformulated beverages with fewer calories, getting the word out with television ads and in-store displays, working with retailers who know their customers best, and partnering with public health advocates and community organizations across the country.
