Diabetes continues to be a public health concern in this country and one that is oftentimes preventable with lifestyle choices such as staying active and embracing a healthy diet. We at Sip & Savor have regularly blogged on the importance of physical activity, nutrition and health.  And this is another example of how balancing what we eat and drink with exercise can help us lead a healthier lifestyle.

A recent release from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is predicting an increase in the number of diabetes sufferers in the coming years. The projections, released late last week, predict that “as many as one in three U.S adults could have diabetes by 2050.”

The CDC also notes that diabetes is a multifaceted issue, partially attributable to obesity, family history, inactive lifestyle and race/ethnicity, according to the release. Staying active and eating healthy are the most basic, yet most important ways to prevent the onset of diabetes.
