Every four years, the month of February has an extra day, Feb.  29 – also known as Leap Day! Originally instituted by Julius Caesar in 45 B.C., Leap Day was created to keep the calendar system in line with the seasons. When Europe moved to the Gregorian calendar in 1582 A.D. – which many of us still use today- the Leap Day was kept but altered slightly to better fit the science of the day.

So what will you do with your “extra” day this year? There are lots of superstitions surrounding Feb.  29 but we at Sip & Savor suggest using this extra time to benefit others. What better way to celebrate the gift of an extra day than in service and kindness to friends, family and our communities?

Happy Leap Day!
