Amid the COVID-19 crisis, The Coca-Cola Company is finding ways to repurpose resources to help meet the needs of communities in need. To date, the Coca-Cola system has donated over 740,000 beverages to support community organizations, food banks and frontline responders throughout the United States.

In the company’s hometown of Atlanta, Coca-Cola is donating hand sanitizer, wipes and other cleaning and disinfectant supplies to the Salvation Army Red Shield Shelter. Coca-Cola’s support will ensure the shelter can continue to safely serve the needs of Atlanta’s homeless and disadvantaged during the crisis. Additionally, in partnership with MakeIt Labs and packaging supplier Sonoco, Coca-Cola has helped transport 6,000 pounds of plastic sheeting from Sonoco’s warehouse in North Carolina to Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Student groups will use the plastic sheeting to make more than 50,000 plastic surgical shields for healthcare workers battling COVID-19 in the Atlanta area.

Outside its hometown, Coca-Cola is encouraging social distancing in the hard-hit area of New York City. The beverage marketer has been running an ad on its iconic Times Square billboard that features extra spacing between the letters in its logo and reads, “Staying apart is the best way to stay united.” – helping send a social distancing message in one of the most crowded places in the United States.
