A new year is upon us, but it's always good to reflect on what made the last year great, especially on Throwback Thursday.
2018 was a big year for America's beverage companies. Here are some of the highlights:
- In January, former ABA CEO Susan Neely published an opinion piece in The Hill highlighting the industry's commitment to public health goals.
- In April, representatives from beverage companies across the nation came to Washington D.C. to meet with their representatives and advocate for the industry.
- In August, ABA staff attended the LA Taco Fest, hosted by our partner Jovenes Inc. Joined by our friends at Barrio Action & Youth Family Center, we provided attendees of the festival with reduced or zero sugar beverages.
- In October, ABA's own Barbara Hiden was honored at the Women in Advocacy Awards.
- Later that month, the Florida Beverage Association received the 2018 Sustainability Partnership Game Changer Award from the National Waste and Recycling Association.
- We celebrated America Recycles Day in November. America's beverage companies maintained their strong commitment to recycling and sustainability this year.
- At the end of the year, ABA's staff volunteered with Washington Parks and People, a non-profit that creates sustainable community green spaces throughout Washington D.C.
