Strong communities thrive when neighbors come together and turn ideas into action. A perfect example of this this occurred last month when a dedicated team of 27 volunteers from Niagara Bottling and The Home Depot's Marina Del Rey store joined forces at A Place Called Home (APCH) in Los Angeles to create a vibrant learning garden for students.
Volunteers assembled more than 15 planting beds that will hold fresh herbs and serve as a hands-on learning environment where students can learn about plant cultivation, explore sustainability and the significance of nature in daily life.
"We are thrilled to be volunteering in Los Angeles with A Place Called Home,” said Jamie Colvert, manager of corporate giving at Niagara Bottling. “This opportunity to build a learning garden for their students is incredibly rewarding. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this garden will have on the local community."
A Place Called Home, located in South Central Los Angeles, is a nonprofit youth and community center that offers a safe and nurturing environment for young people. The addition of the learning garden aligns with APCH's mission to provide enriching educational experiences that empower students to thrive.
Niagara Bottling, a family-owned company since 1963, operates over 40 bottling plants across the United States and Mexico, employing more than 8,000 team members worldwide.
This project is a great American example of colleagues and neighbors coming together to improve their community. Together, we are cultivating not just gardens, but opportunities for growth and learning.
