In the heart of Vernon, Calif., Keurig Dr Pepper employees wanted to give back to their local community in a powerful way. Working with Good360, they organized a volunteer event to assemble and distribute 2,500 hygiene kits for distribution by the National Veterans Foundation to those who have served our country but are currently facing housing challenges.
“When a veteran receives this kit, it gives them an opportunity to start their day fresh,” said Kevin Towner, Keurig Dr Pepper site director based in Vernon, Calif..
The hygiene kits, packed with soaps, toothbrushes and other standard grooming materials, also included handwritten notes of encouragement and support from volunteers. These kits are resources that can greatly enhance the daily lives and self-esteem of unhoused veterans.
“For us to complete our mission, we need companies like Keurig Dr Pepper,” said Mike Washington from the National Veterans Foundation. “The volunteers today assembled 2,500 kits. That’s 2,500 veterans that we can help out on the street.”
By addressing their basic needs, volunteers displayed compassion for unhoused veterans while acknowledging their sacrifices. Efforts like these are an integral part of the beverage industry’s mission to give back to the people and communities they serve every day.
“We want our veterans and our community to know that we are here for you,” Towner added.
