There’s a slight chance you may have recently read something about heart disease this week in light of the publication of a few studies related to the topic. Heart disease is a serious public health issue in our country. So today, we thought we’d share a few facts about the risks.

According to the American Heart Association, the major risk factors for heart disease are related to age, gender, genetics, smoking and being obese. While some of these factors are beyond our control, there are things we all can do to help mitigate the risks for heart disease, such as not smoking, maintaining a healthy body weight and being physically fit.
