Did you know that Americans consume more than 675 million pounds of turkey on Thanksgiving Day alone? That’s a lot of calories! But Thanksgiving, now only a few days away, marks the beginning of a season of social engagements and, for many of us, indulgence in delicious holiday treats.  While family gatherings, holiday parties and traditional celebrations often revolve around foods and beverages of all varieties, we thought we'd take a minute to remind our readers to be conscious of calories – what we consume and what we burn - while still enjoying the festivities over the next month or so.

We've previously discussed the importance of calorie balance and encourage you to keep it in mind this holiday season. In fact, if you'd like to keep a close eye on your caloric intake, the Thanksgiving Calorie Counter might be a helpful guide to Thursday's celebration. And don't forget to get out and enjoy the fall weather.  The brick temperatures are perfect for tossing around the football or taking a walk with the family.

You can certainly still enjoy the hearty foods of fall and sweet treats of the season, but keep calorie balance in mind as you head out of the office for your annual ritual of family feasting.
