Yesterday, Wal-mart announced that the company will work with the First Lady on her "Let’s Move!" campaign. As the nation’s largest grocer, Wal-Mart has committed to “provide its customers with healthier and more affordable food choices,” according to a news release.

Last year, our industry announced its Clear on Calories labeling initiative in support of the First Lady’s announcement of her anti-obesity campaign.  Like our School Beverage Guidelines, this initiative is yet another way in which our industry is stepping up to do its part on challenging and complex societal issues, such as childhood obesity.

We commend Wal-mart for their involvement with the First Lady.  And we encourage you to learn more about how our industry is putting calorie information at the fingertips of consumers at every point of purchase.
