As the deadline for implementation of the soda ban in New York City approaches, we’re seeing more and more stories about the economic impact that this discriminatory policy will have on New York businesses.  Take this article which recently ran in the New York Post, for example.  The piece shares some simple arithmetic, which shows just how much more New Yorkers are going to have to pay for soft drinks.

We’ve said it a number of times, but it bears repeating:  New Yorkers are fully capable of making their own decisions about what to eat and drink.  The soda ban is exceedingly unpopular with New Yorkers.  It increases the cost of doing business in the City and will have no impact on the Mayor’s stated goal of reducing obesity.
