Last month, GENYOUth, one of our many community partner organizations here at ABA, hosted their annual gala in New York City. GENYOUth’s mission is to “enable students to create a healthier future for themselves and their peers.” They do this by convening “a network of private and public partners to raise funds for nationwide youth wellness initiatives that bolster healthy, high-achieving students, schools, and communities.” These initiatives encourage youth to be change agents “who deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential by identifying and leading entrepreneurial solutions that positively impact nutrition, physical activity, and student success across our nation.”
As part of their evening, GENYOUth honored “America’s Everyday Super Heroes: Those who Dare It, Dream It, Do it.” This year’s Vanguard Award Recipient was PepsiCo. Al Carey, chief executive officer of PepsiCo North America, accepted the award. The 2018 Gala was “a unique moment in time that brings together valued partners both to acknowledge and to renew their commitment to GENYOUth’s mission of building on the long legacy of passionate American youth as leaders of social change.” The American Beverage Association congratulates Al Carey and all of our colleagues at PepsiCo not only for bringing new and innovative products and solutions to the beverage industry, but also for their hard work to inspire and uplift the next generation of change agents in our country.
We are proud of all of our partner organizations who are making a difference in their local communities. To learn more about how America’s beverage companies are working together with community organizations, click here.
