We are supporting towns and cities across our nation through the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America's (ABFHA) community grant program. These grants are promoting unique programs addressing both the physical health of local citizens and the environmental health of communities. The application period for these grants is now open and running through March 15th.
Past grant recipients have included after school fitness programs, community gardening initiatives, recycling initiatives and nutrition education programs.
ABFHA also has a partnership with the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) in support of the Childhood Obesity Prevention Grants Program. Started in 2012, this program is a landmark initiative to provide grant support to cities in their efforts to eradicate childhood obesity. Over the course of this seven-year partnership, USCM, ABA and ABFHA will have rewarded more than $2.6 million to over 30 cities across the country. Winners over the years include Boston, Mass., Fontana, Calif., Baltimore, Md., and Denver, Colo. More about the Childhood Obesity Prevention Grants Program can be found here.
These grants demonstrate our industry's commitment to foster partnerships and drive change within communities.
