In celebration of Ireland’s patron saint, Saint Patrick, countries across the globe commemorate today in a variety of ways, from parades to week-long festivals. Many of the biggest celebrations take place right here in the United States, where cities like Chicago and Boston have embraced the day due to their large Irish populations.

No matter how you celebrate today, it’s almost certain that you won’t be able to escape the color green. Why green? Not only is green one of the colors of the Irish flag, the country itself is known as “The Emerald Isle.”

So whether you are Irish or just trying to beat a leprechaun to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, we wish everyone a safe and celebratory day!
