Recently, ABFHA awarded six new grants to localities and community organizations, including:
• The City of Orlando will create an interactive display to raise awareness about the value of recycling to develop a more circular economy and increase the collection of materials, including 100% recyclable plastic bottles.
• The Minnesota Waste Wise Foundation will create two educational videos to highlight how materials can be collected and recycled and the life cycle benefits of recycling plastic.
• The Sovereign Community School in Oklahoma City will provide underserved students and families of Native American nations with nutritional and physical education programs.
• The Michigan Recycling Coalition will build an interactive display at a local facility called the Capital Area Recycling Education Center to educate residents, students and lawmakers of the value of recycling to the state’s environment and economy.
• Keep Durham Beautiful will create clean-up kits and educational tools for elementary school students to learn about proper recycling and sustainability.
• Veggielution located in San Jose, Calif. will hire and train low income community members to help distribute locally grown fresh and affordable food on its six-acre community farm.
