Our member companies are not only producing delicious and refreshing beverages for consumers, but they also have a long history of working hard to further reduce their environmental footprint.  We thought we’d take the opportunity to inform our readers about efforts that our member companies are taking to be even more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Dr Pepper Snapple Group has a program called ACTION Nation, one element of which includes promoting environmental initiatives and getting employees involved in the process.  Among Coca-Cola’s initiatives is Coca-Cola Recycling which raises awareness and develops programs that focus specifically on recycling.  One of PepsiCo’s environmental sustainability programs is the Dream Machine Summer Recycling Challenge. The more consumers recycle, the more support PepsiCo contributes to programs that support returning U.S. veterans with disabilities.

We at Sip & Savor have had the benefit of being able to use a number of these recycling programs in our own neighborhoods of Washington, D.C., and the surrounding areas.  Bethesda, Maryland for example is seeing a difference thanks in part to another one of our member companies, Honest Tea. And Nestlé Waters North America is starting at home, by using less in the production process. They also recognize that lack of curbside recycling programs and have committed to supporting local community recycling programs to ensure that cans and bottles do not get trashed.

As our member companies continue to find ways to promote environmentally conscious ways of conducting business, we encourage you to keep your eyes open for the prominent three-arrow logo reminding you to reduce, reuse and recycle.  And remember – Think Inside the Bin!
