Using information from The Beverage Information Group and U.S. Census, MarketWatch produced this nifty little infographic showing “how the nation’s thirsts have shifted over the past decade,” including a 16 percent reduction in soda consumption.

We here at Sip & Savor know that sales of regular soft drinks declined by 12.5 percent from 1999 to 2010, and, according to CDC, added sugars consumed from soda are down 39 percent since 2000. Yet, obesity rates continue to rise.

In fact, our products make up such a small piece of the diet, yet some activists want to assign us 100 percent of the blame for the rise in obesity.  Like Former President Bill Clinton said, “Arithmetic” – our critics should try it sometime.
