On Sunday, people around the globe will celebrate Earth Day. Earth Day is a reminder to protect our environment and preserve our natural resources so that they can be enjoyed for generations to come. This is a responsibility the beverage industry takes seriously and is at the very core of our business practices.

The beverage industry is a longtime leader in conserving and protecting environmental resources. We incorporate sustainable practices into every part of our operations, from packaging design and water use, to fleets, fuels and energy usage.

When it comes to water conservation, we continue to adopt innovative technologies to further reduce water use. Since 2011, we have cut water use by 4.4 percent per unit of product. And PepsiCo and Dr Pepper Snapple Group are working with The Nature Conservancy to protect several watersheds around the nation, such as the Verde River in Arizona and the Trinity River in Texas. Coca-Cola announced a water replenishing goal—giving back the amount of water it uses. In 2016 the company said it had met that goal five years early.

These are just a few examples of how America’s beverage companies are leaders in environmental sustainability. To learn more about how we are acting on our commitment to conservation visit http://innovationnaturally.org/.
